My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Itsy Bitsy, a purebred 5-year-old female Shih Tzu. This little girl may be tiny at just under 10 lbs., but boy does she have a big story!

Itsy Bitsy was dropped off at Dunnellon Animal Hospital with no indication of who she belonged to or where she came from. The folks at DAH managed to track her microchip to a woman in South Florida. Unfortunately, the woman said the dog belonged to her daughter, with whom she had not spoken in months. So poor Itsy Bitsy sat in boarding at the vet's office for three weeks while attempts were made to locate her owner. Unfortunately, the daughter never came to claim this sweet little girl and rather than send her to animal control, the staff at DAH asked us to find her a new home. How could we say no?

As stated before, Itsy Bitsy is 5 years old and weighs approximately 10 lbs. She loves people and other dogs, and still has plenty of bounce left in her step. In fact, she has LOTS of bounce left in her step! Itsy Bitsy was matted all the way down to her skin in several spots, so she's been shaved in a cool summer cut. Not to worry, though, she'll be even cuter when her coat grows out. She appears to be house trained, and is learning to like the crate. Itsy is an excellent car rider and enjoys walking on the leash. We've just had Itsy Bitsy's teeth cleaned, and although two of her front teeth are a bit discolored, our vet assures us they are free of any decay. We think it adds character to her already charming little face!

We think our girl would make the perfect companion for someone who's looking for a funny little dog to keep them company and lift their spirits. No frisbee dog here -- Itsy Bitsy just wants to be your pal!

Itsy Bitsy is currently being fostered in the Ocala area. Her adoption fee is $300. She has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated and is on Trifexis. Itsy Bitsy is heartworm negative. You can view her full photo album on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/LovingLifeCanineRescue

If you think you would like to give this sweet baby a forever home, contact me at LovingLifeRescue@gmail.com . We do not have an adoption application but instead rely upon an interview process. At a minimum, please share such things as where you live, your household composition (how many children and what ages), your yard setup and/or exercise plan, pets you have and/or had, what happened to those pets, what flea/heartworm medication you used on former pets, your work schedule and amount of time the dog would be alone, if you rent do you have landlord approval, what you are looking for in a dog, etc. The more information the merrier. And there are no "right" answers. Honest! Please include a phone number at which you may be reached, as well as vet references that we may check should you be chosen once the initial application process is complete.
