UPDATE FROM ADAM'S FOSTER FAMILY 7/22:
I’ve been fostering Adam for about 4 months now. He came to stay with me for some new experiences. One of those new experiences was meeting a couple of cats. In general he does well with cats. There are times where he seems to want to play with them, and gets a little too rambunctious for the cats, but for the most part he ignores them.
I am so glad I’ve had an opportunity to get to know him beyond just seeing him at adoption events. He is a super sweet dog. He enjoys lying on your lap, giving you kisses and playing with toys. His favorite toy is a deer antler, but he’ll play with just about anything. He’s currently living with 3 other dogs and does fine with them, but should be okay as an only dog. He is also house trained and is well mannered in the home.
His lone fault is his response to strangers. He doesn’t like strangers and can be reactive towards them. Because of this he would be happiest in a home that does not receive a lot of visitors and one where he can be the center of your universe. He is not a candidate for dog parks or for walks where there will be lots of people. For this reason we are looking for a home with a secure fenced in yard so you can play ball with him. His favorite game!
He is very responsive to commands and is food motivated. Because of this, I feel that behavior modification training could help him with his issues with strangers, but we can’t make any guarantee of that.
Once you’ve gotten past the stranger phase with him, you’ll get all kinds of kisses and loving from him. So if you’re looking for a lap dog that can keep you company while watching TV and you can play ball with, Adam’s your kind of dog. If you’re interested in him, please fill out an online application. We are looking to place him locally (Northeast Ohio) and a home visit will be required.
Adam is a very spunky 4 year-old Boston Terrier mix male. He is such a sweet dog, but has a difficult time at adoption events because he becomes stressed at the pet stores and is insecure with strangers. Once he gets to know you, he is very affectionate with you. He will need an experienced dog owner that will help him work through his insecurities. He will also need to be in a home without kids. He enjoys human companionship and would love an active owner to take him on car rides and walks. Adam has good manners with other dogs and loves to snuggle, wrestle, play and run.
Adam does well in his crate and is likely to be housetrained too, although we can’t guarantee it. He weighs about 19 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. Adam is neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped.
All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in Adam. An application must be submitted and approved before we schedule meets with our dogs. Our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with small children so we aren’t comfortable placing any of them in homes with kids less than 4-5 years-old. We try to respond to all inquiries the same day they’re received so if you don’t get an email from us within 24 hours please check your spam folder or junkmail to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
