My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet little guy was found tied to a fence with one collar around his neck and another collar around his hindquarters. Both collars were attached to leashes which were tied to the fence. He had no mobility, and no food or water. His rescuer (who just happened to be visiting Houston) thinks he must have spent the night tied up like that. She freed him and took him straight to a local vet where he was neutered, given all his vaccines and following heart worm and intestinal testing, was found to be in perfect health!

She turned to DREAM for help in giving this adorable \"Designer Dachsie\" a chance to find a caring forever family and to enjoy a second chance at life and love. Thanks to a set of amazing DREAM Foster Parents who opened their hearts and their home, he is well on his way!

Boots has proven to be a sweet and spunky one year old who appears to be house broken, provided you pay attention to his signal when he goes to the door. He loves going for walks on his leash, but as is common in known dog behaviors, he tends to get growly when he is leashed and encounters other dogs. Once the leash is removed however, as was seen in a recent visit to a secure dog park, he was instantly fine, friendly and ready to play.

He\'s not crazy about being crated, but will deal with it and sleeps well all through the night. He\'s not food aggressive at all and enjoys a good romping playtime with a doggie rope toy. He likes people and dogs (as long as he meets the dogs off leash) and appears that he would do well in a family with children although he hasn\'t been exposed to any kids as of yet, hence the \"no young children\" flag.

Boots is going to make a terrific pet for an active, fun loving family with a backyard where he can romp and learn to play fetch! Won\'t you consider this sweet boy who possesses the precious personality of a Dachshund with the lighthearted look of mix with moxie?
