My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mica is a sweet pit mix who is up to date on her shots and fixed. We estimate her to be around a year old. She was found on the side of the road guarding her dog friend who had been hit by a car. Sadly, the decision was made to euthanize her friend due to the extent of injuries.

Since then, Mica has learned that people bring tasty treats and lots of love, though she is still shy of strangers. She does very well with positive reinforcement and is super smart. She loves to sit in your lap and cuddle. Mica keeps her kennel clean when she can, though being a puppy, she still has some difficulty holding it over night. She is crate trained but would rather be where the people are. It takes her a bit to warm up to strangers but once she does, she would love nothing more than to follow you to the ends of the earth. As she has become more comfortable here at the rescue she has displayed more of her puppy energy and excitement, though it can take her a while to get used to new things (like cameras!). With more time and social interaction with humans and with other dogs, she will keep on blossoming into the lovely young dog she is becoming.

Mica has been having a tough time getting use to living in a kennel. She is overwhelmed by the amount of stimulation which is causing her to lash out at the other dogs. She can go with some dogs, but is very selective. Her ability to get along with other dogs may improve if we can find her a foster or home that can give her the attention she needs.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering (even for a weekend!) Mica please call to make an appointment! She would make a perfect addition to almost any family!

Mica is currently in foster! If you would like to meet with her, please call to make an appointment!
