Hi, my name is Nate; I am a 3 year old neutered male Golden Retriever/mix. I have a very sweet and loving personality once you get to know me. I had a rough time socializing with my family and their other dog Riley at first because I was defensive and very skittish. After working with my foster mom for a few weeks, I am no longer mean or snarly towards Riley. I have become a great part of the family. I do wonderful with cats and especially enjoy getting hugs and kisses from children.
I am still very shy around strangers; I will bark and sometimes back away or not let them come near me. I make a good watch dog; I will bark and let you know if anyone or anything is outside. I am very vocal and will bark to let you know if I need anything or if I just want your attention.
I do very well in car rides and enjoy a long walk. If given the chance, I have the tendency to try to get of the house and run around the neighborhood, if I am not walked on a daily basis. I am capable of jumping over short fences and I have dug a tunnel under the fence to get out of the back yard. Because of this I am kept on a run in the back yard or I only get to run around by myself outside if someone is out there to watch me. Long periods of time outside alone won't be good for me.
I do not know how to play fetch but I love toys, especially ones that squeak. I love when my foster family shows me attention and plays with me. I do very well when left alone in the house, but I will sometimes sneak up on the couch to take a nap when you are not looking.
I am looking for the perfect family that is going to be patient and gentle with me. One who will show me attention, spend quality time with me and love me unconditionally. I promise I will be an amazing addition to your family!!
