My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jax is incredibly loving! He wants to do everything with us and loves to be around us. He has never bitten or even nipped at us even when we put our hands near his mouth when he has a treat. He has a lot of energy but he loves coming in from a long walk or run and snuggling up on the couch to settle in. He has a very soft and shiny coat and he loves to be touched. Jax is a very young dog approximately 10 - 11 months and weighs 14 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Jax is incredibly loving and affectionate. He follows the rules very well in the house and as he gets a little older he will do better with outside stimulus as well. He is curious about everything and will try to 'help' you do anything but he has never been a problem in the house. He hasn't gotten into anything he shouldn't have and he requires very little 'babysitting' when we are home.

He is very excitable which sometimes makes it difficult for him to be around multiple people or high energy situations but he is not aggressive. He is not shy at all. He wants to be everyone's friend. He has mostly stayed away from our cat. He seems to want to make friends but she has made it clear she is not interested so he stays away. He has not attempted to chase her. He gets very excited when there are other dogs around and does not really know how to meet another dog outside of the home. He gets overstimulated easily. He has not been aggressive towards other dogs just very excited and hyper around them.

He whines when we leave but he doesn't bark much. He has not had a single accident in the house nor has he destroyed or even attempted to destroy anything. He does not like bicycles or motorcycles but he doesn't seem afraid of them he just barks at them. He loves to play! He will throw his ball on his own and chase it around the house. He also loves chewing on his bone and harder plastic toys. He loves to go for walks and run around the park. He also loves cuddling up on the couch and sleeping next to us. When we are home he is very quiet. We have tried leaving his crate in the living room at night and he whines a lot if we do that but as soon as we brought the crate into the bedroom with us he was quiet and peaceful.

He tries to push the boundaries by putting his paws up on things but he has never tried to steal food off the table or counters and he has never chewed anything but the toys we have given him. He knows 'sit' and 'get down'. Anytime he puts his paws up on something or brings a toy onto the couch we tell him to 'get down' and he follows the instruction very quickly. 'Sit' is a bit more difficult, he often gets distracted by something while we are trying. He is also getting very good with 'wait' at street corners and when I am opening doors. He is completely house trained. He has not had a single accident even in the first few days. He will walk back and forth between us and the door when he needs to go out. He is very good with his crate. He goes in to nap or chew his toys sometimes when we are home and as long as he can see us we can close the door and he will sleep. When we are not home, which has been a maximum of 8 hours, our neighbor has told us that he whined on and off for that time. He walks pretty well on the leash. He pulls a bit and he gets distracted but he doesn't try to bite it or get out of his harness. I would say he is leash trained. He is very good at waiting to be told that he can leave. He hasn't tried to run out the door at all.

He would do best in a quiet setting where there are not a lot of things going on all the time. Maybe somewhere where he is the only pet and/or there are no small children. He is very excitable and it does not take much to get him worked up. On the other hand, he is a wonderful dog when he relaxes which happens very quickly if the environment is relaxed. He wants to be perfect, you can tell, there are just so many other things that he wants to explore at the same time. All he needs is some patience, a lot of exercise and love, to be obedient.

If you think Jax would be a good fit for your family, please submit an Ugly Mutts Adoption Application for consideration.
