Foster Family Observations:
Hershey was found by one of our volunteers as a stray. We have searched for his family for weeks and nobody has come forward, but we suspect he might not have had the best of owners before. He has what appears to be an old wound from a tie out rubbing the skin off a portion of his neck. He doesn’t let that phase him though – he’s one of the happiest dogs you’ll meet!
Hershey is a happy guy and a sweet boy that loves to be with his people. He has lots of energy and loves to play outside with his foster family and dog sisters. He walks great on a leash and is picking up commands quickly. He sits politely before coming out of his crate and while waiting for his dinner bowl to be served. He also sits patiently while at an open door until he gets an “ok” to go outside. Hershey shows no aggression at all towards food, toys, dogs or people.

He is puppy-like and can get a little over-excited with his foster dog sisters but is not aggressive at all and is learning to tone it down when he is told. He is crate trained and doesn’t fuss much at all when his foster family leaves for work or at night. He LOVES the stuffed Kong treat he gets when his foster family has to be gone for a few hours.

Hershey likes to:
Be pet!
Play!
Be around people
Go on walks
Eat
Chew on raw hides and Kong toy
Mosey around the house and check stuff out

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hershey, a Oak Creek Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Oak Creek, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Oak Creek.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Creek already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Creek breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Creek paves the way for another one to be saved.
