My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nina is a sweet, loyal 10 year old purebred long haired German Shepherd Dog who is beautiful inside and out. She loves being with other dogs (prefers calmer, submissive dogs, but also likes puppies), GREAT with cats, and awesome with dog-friendly kids of all ages. Most of all, she loves being with her people (i.e. watching TV, sleeping in the bed, hanging out in the sun and grass). She is also housetrained, trustworthy with free roam, and not a fence jumper.

She would be the perfect dog for anyone who loves and is experienced with German Shepherds! She has all of the wonderful breed traits (loyal, bonded, intelligent, etc), but does need a strong and experienced adopter to help her become more confident and secure. She has some over guarding issues (due to being abandoned in the shelter by her lifelong family) towards other dogs (i.e. tries to get between other dogs and her people), so she will need someone who is knowledgeable and who is willing to work through this with Nina. She is very responsive and willing to please, so training should be both easy and enjoyable.

Nina is on medical hold due to operable mammary cancer, but we are accepting applications towards adoption or fostering.

Nina does have mammary cancer, however, it is operable and she will be scheduled for her surgery soon. If you chose to foster her during that time with the intent to adopt, the rescue will pay for her surgery.

Email caylebskindred@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting or fostering sweet Nina.
