My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Garth - 8 year old male purebred Miniature Schnauzer. Garth was rescued from an LA county shelter, where he had been confiscated after his owner was arrested. Garth came into the shelter in horrible shape extremely matted, dirty and filthy. His mouth seemed like a sewer with rotten teeth, we knew after seeing him for 5 minutes that the poor little guy also had bladder stones due to frequenty urination without a lot of flow. After rescuing him we had a senior screen done and proceed with a dental and bladder stone removal surgery. Poor fellow had 21 teeth extracted... his bladder stone surgery also turned complicated with stones in his urethra which could not be forced back into the bladder (the vet had to make an incision in the urethra to remove the lodged stones). We also found from his xrays that he had a BB lodged in his hip muscle (he had apparently been shot with a BB gun). Well the poor little guy feels much better now and is recovering. Garth is a real sweetie for all he has been through he is a people lover. He also gets along well with other dogs. Garth will need to remain on Rx dog food to prevent stones from reoccuring but other than that will lead a healthy normal life. Garth is overweight right now weighing approximately 21 pounds, he should be slimmed down to 17.
