My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harper is a young female who has seen nothing but neglect in her first year. This tiny little girl was adopted out of a small shelter in SE Texas only to be found weeks later, once again, as a stray. Harper is probably less than 2 years old and has already had a litter of pups. Harper is ‘fat’ and sassy at 15 pounds now and that is a perfect weight for this 12 inch girl! She is all recovered from her spay and heart worm treatment and looking for a forever home to call her own.

Harper was very timid and skittish when she first arrived at her foster home. She will still slink away whenever she hears someone ask, “Who did this?” even when she is totally innocent! It is doubtful this little girl ever had a chance to be a puppy. Harper delights in rolling around on your lap and trying to gently bite at your fingers. She has blossomed into a playful little girl who loves to get her foster siblings to chase her. Her favorite ploy is to run under them and nip their legs! She enjoys all the benefits of being a beagle; a yard to sniff around, toys to chase and chew on, and hoofs to gnaw!

Harper’s house manners are very good. House training did not come easy to her, but she eventually got the idea of going out via the dog door all on her own when the need arose. She has not gotten into anything that did not belong to the pack and can be trusted to be home without kenneling. She sleeps the night through on a dog bed or the foot of the master bed. She is quiet and never a bed hog, so rarely gets told to get off. As small as she is, Harper does have a great bay. It is amazing to hear that beautiful sound coming out of something so small! She will bay to alert you to people or animals approaching your home.

Harper loves to cuddle up on your lap. She wants to be with her people. Usually, Harper lies quietly, but there are times she is tempted to turn the pages of your I Pad if you don’t give her enough attention! This pint sized beagle needs love and a family that will continue to show her how wonderful life can be.
