We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult, we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

Taffy is a precious, loving, gentle little dog whose owner died and family members dumped her in a high kill shelter. Every Friday they kill all the leftover dogs and cats that don't get out to rescue--and we just couldn't let this terrified little dog be left to that fate. Taffy is 8.5 years old and 20 pounds. She's a chihuahua mixed with some kind of terrier, and while she might not win a beauty contest she will win Miss Congeniality as she has the most wonderful temperament ever! Her favorite activity is to hang out with her foster mom and be petted, though when foster mom is at work she is content to hang out on the bed and wait for her to come home. She is very well house trained and has good indoor manners. Taffy gets along with other polite dogs but she would be such a good dog to make grandma or grandpa happy. Taffy is okay with older respectful kids but would probably prefer an adult household. She is with a 501c3 rescue. Her adoption fee is $150 as she was already spayed. She is heartworm negative, up to date on shots, worming and she has a HomeAgain microchip.

• Fenced yard: Preferred but if she is always leashed a fenced yard is not required
