Max's story...
Max is a very handsome dude looking for a new home! He was adopted from us as a kitten 5 years ago, but was recently returned because his family was moving and could not take him along. Max is an easy going kitty and would be great with kids. He does well with small dogs, but is uneasy around the larger variety. Max has always been an only kitty, so he has never had the opportunity to mingle with other felines to see if he likes them. This is a great companion looking for a special person to give him a new life!!

About Our Rescue Group...
Cat Haven Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was established in 1999 to rescue and place cats and kittens in loving homes. In just a few years, we have rescued and found homes for over 4,500 cats. We make it possible for area residents to find the perfect cat or kitten by hosting adoption events every Saturday in the Baton Rouge area. All cats adopted through Cat Haven have been spayed or neutered, tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus, and have received age appropriate basic vaccinations.

In addition to finding good homes for cats and kittens, Cat Haven has an active program to reduce the number of stray feral cats in our community. We have trapped, neutered and released almost 3,500 cats. The Feral Program reduces the potential for more stray cats and saves hundreds of kittens from the cycle of wild life outdoors by transferring them to Cat Haven's adoption program.

Cat Haven has no paid staff and depends completely on volunteers, members and donors to continue it's work. We host annual events to raise money for our programs and operating expenses. Our annual "Cat Tales & Cocktails Gala", held every September here in Baton Rouge, focuses on our building needs. Other fundraising efforts and donations provide the money needed to operate our programs.

Cat Haven also relies on local veterinarians that participate in our program. They provide quality health care at reduced rates so that we are able to give our cats and kittens the healthy start they need before going to their new homes. These veterinarians also give us the benefit of their experience and are always there to answer any questions we may have about feline health and behavior.

Cat Haven is a Louisiana nonprofit organization with a member Board of Directors that is responsible for all aspects of Cat Haven's operations and is accountable to our membership.
