Ann's Info...

Breed: Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Hound (Unknown Type) Mix Color: White - With Brown Or Chocolate Age: Young
Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg) Sex: Female

I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with cats.

Ann's Story...
Ann is a medium-sized (about 35 lbs) Terrier/maybe hound mix? She is fairly young, about a year and a half old.
Ann is very smart and knows sit, wait, hush, and down, and is a wonderful car rider. She would likely be a GREAT agility dog with some consistent training because she LOVES to jump and she has lots of energy to burn. She would do best in a home where she is able to run and is exercised regularly. Ann will sit and wait while her meals are prepared. She is great with cats and kids, and absolutely loves any attention she can get from people. She is a loving girl and deserves to find her forever home. She should be the only dog or be placed with a very submissive dog, because she is very dominant, especially toward females.
It would be best if she did not have to be crated at all when left alone or only crated for short periods of time. All in all, she needs some consistent training and work and she'll be great.

Ann's adoption fee is $200, which includes all vetting (spay/neuter, all vaccinations including rabies, heartworm test & started on prevention), started on flea/tick prevention, microchip and a leash & collar. If you are interested in meeting Ann, or even fostering her until she finds her permanent home, please begin by filling out the online application that applies at www.stopthesuffering.org

About Our Rescue Group...
Our Mission" is to rescue homeless dogs and cats from shelters that are at high risk of euthanasia. With the help of Foster Home programs & other Rescue Groups we place these animals in safe havens. While in foster care funding is provided for spaying and neutering, along with other required veterinary care. We promote and process suitable applications for adoptions to create responsible ownership."

Stop the Suffering accepts dogs and cats from rural Ohio shelters and some owner "turn-ins" into the adoption programs. Many of these animals were rescued from the Licking County Animal Shelter.

Assessment - Matching the Dog and the Adopter
Adopter discusses the dog or cat of choice with an STS adoption specialist.
The STS adoption specialist discusses needs and temperament of dog with individual/family.
Both needs of the dog or cat and and the criteria of the family are very carefully assessed to assure the best match possible. Items considered include:

Temperament and age of dog or cat
Veterinary/health needs of dog or cat
Individual/families desires and perception of the perfect pet
(no match is “perfect” but STS strives for the best match possible)
Ability of individual/family to meet the veterinary, daily-living, behavioral and emotional needs of the dog or cat.

STS visits the home of any adoptive family. If the family lives out of state, STS may arrange for another local rescue to conduct the home visit.
Other means of assessment include:

Veterinary reference
Personal references by two to three individuals who know the adopter and the adopter’s capability to provide a loving home for an animal
