Arrival story: In November of 2007, Cupcake was 4 weeks old and was seized from her neglectful owner and placed in a shelter. When the the case was won in March of 2008, Cupcake was adopted out to a family. In early July, she was dropped back in the shelter because her new owner had medical problems. Despite the fact that this gal has spent 6 of her 9 months of life in a shelter, she is sweet, gentle, and wants to make up for all the love she has missed.
Approximate age / weight: 9 months old and about 45 pounds
Personality: Cupcake is pretty scared thus far. From shelter life to a home with two other dogs, two cats, two kids, and two adults, well, that is just plain overwhelming. She does want LOTS of love and reassurance that everything is okay.
Fiona has been brought to the foster home where her mom lives as the resident furry family member. Fiona is looking to her mom to know when to bark, and when not to be so scared. Since mom is a model citizen of the breed, we are hoping Cupcake will gain some confidence while under her wing.
Forever home: A home that has experienced bully breeds in the past, that will allow Cupcake to grow into a confident (but not bossy) adult. She is good with kids and seems to be okay with cats. Although Cupcake gets along with her mom, she doesn't always appreciate the play advances of her foster sister. Everything is new and stressful to her right now, so her profile with continue to be updated with her progress.
Update: She wants to be buddies with the cats!

Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
