Joe was one of the 145 dogs left orphaned in the desert when his owner died. He was rounded up on the the day of the big rescue and went to "Camp Reno" for some intensive rehab. ( He was the only dog injured in the rescue, he bit his own ear) . Joe was eventually released to a "rescue facility". Joe was born and raised in the desert. All the sudden, he was locked up for 23 hours a day in a "white room with [no] curtains at the windows" ... for almost 5 months. Yes, Joe went mad. He's better now, after narrowly escaping death. The email came at 7:30 on a Friday morning. It said in essence " Joe was scheduled to be put to sleep today . If you want him, come get him." He was got. Joe was turned out in an an open yard with other dogs just to let him detox. He is now in a smaller yard, still with other dogs. Joe is not leash trained.... yet. But Joe is now taking treats from humans, playing tug of war with kennel workers and nuzzling hands. Huge accomplishments for this boy.If you have world of patience and are a dog whisperer by trade, sweet Joe is your dog.

WE NEEDED A RESCUE SHELTER TO TAKE OUR NEEDY, HOMELESS OR INJURED DOGS TO. WE ARE A SMALL KENNEL AND DO THE BEST WE CAN TO MAKE THE HOMELESS DOGS LIVES A LITTLE BETTER WHILE WAITING FOR A FOREVER HOME. WE WILL KEEP THE DOGS FOR AS LONG AS NECESARY TO FIND THEM A LOVING HOME. ALL OUR DOGS ARE GIVEN BLANKETS, TOYS AND TREATS. EVEN MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG. WE HAVE BUILT LARGE EXCERCISE YARDS TO GIVE THE DOGS ROOM TO RUN AND PLAY. EVERY DOG IS WALKED AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. OUR KENNEL IS NOT FANCY BUT EVERY DOG IS TREATED WITH RESPECT, KINDNESS AND LOVE. VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED TO WALK THE DOGS AND HELP IN THE KENNELS. WE ALSO DO DOG BOARDING AT SAFE HAVEN TO HELP PAY FOR THE RESCUE DOGS CARE. DONATIONS ALWAYS GLADLY ACCEPTED.
WE WILL TAKE CALLS FROM 8AM TILL 8PM. WE WILL SHOW THE DOGS DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. WE WILL MAKE SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS TO SHOW DOGS. THE FEE FOR ANY DOG IS $70. THERE IS A REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT ON PUPPIES YOUNGER THAN 4 MONTHS TO GUARANTEE THEY WILL BE ALTERED.WE ARE ALWAYS GRATEFUL FOR EXTRA DONATIONS TO HELP TAKE CARE OF THE DOGS AT SAFE HAVEN. ALL OF THE DOGS EXCEPT PUPPIES ARE ALTERED BEFORE THEY ARE PLACED UP FOR ADOPTION. ALL THE DOGS ARE GIVEN SHOTS WE ASK THAT YOU HAVE A FENCED YARD AND THAT THE DOG NEVER BE KEPT TIED UP. IF YOU ARE RENTING, MAKE SURE IT IS OKAY TO HAVE A DOG WHERE YOU LIVE. BE A RESPONSIBLE AND CARING DOG OWNER. MAKE SURE YOUR DOG HAS PLENTY OF FRESH WATER NEARBY AND A WARM BED TO LAY IN.
