Becky is a very unique special needs kitty. She was rescued in Oct ’07 with 5 siblings, left in a box at a rural post office. She and one other kitten had seizures; the other kitten died before we realized that glucose (corn syrup) was the key to most of their seizure issues. Becky has survived, with help from some 13th St Cats angels. She eats a mix of canned food doped with corn syrup and taurine (to help her vision, which is limited); and she takes phenobarbital twice a day. She enjoys running around the house and exploring, playing with her toys, and being petted. She has had the maximum workups possible, including a Technetium scan looking for a liver shunt, blood work looking for a glucose storage issue, a blood culture, and a liver biopsy (while we were spaying her). No diagnosis is able to determine why she has the seizures but we know that corn syrup and a little phenobarbital control them. She needs a forever loving home who would like a special needs kitty-cat who is fairly small. She can be visited at the foster home. She can also be sponsored.
13thstcats.org is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, No-Kill Rescue Group based in San Jose. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, and many of us have full-time jobs outside of our volunteer activities, it may be a few days before someone can respond to your email. We always try to reply as soon as possible.
