Hope's Story...
Girard LifeSaver of Burke County Georgia
Hope is our special needs rescue. A good samaritan saw Hope get hit by a car and immediately got help placing her in her car and took her to the vet's office. Hope spent two weeks there and this wonderful lady paid the expenses, over $700.00, but could not take her home with her as she had two dogs already and lived in an apartment. Hope suffered blunt trauma to the head, a fractured pelvis, dislocated jaw, and was extremely bruised. She had to be force fed for two weeks. How she survived is beyond me. I was contacted by a friend about Hope as she was to be taken to animal control since the lady who brought her in could not take her. I brought Hope to the rescue/shelter and continued to feed her with the syringe and give her her pain meds. twice daily. The second day I made her some chicken broth with a small amount of rice in it. She tryed to eat this on her own. I had hope at this point that she might make it, thus giving her a new name, 'Hope'. She continued to improve as the days and weeks went by but still had to be picked up and carried up and down the steps to go to the bathroom. Today Hope is a new dog compared to the frail and injured little girl I saw when I went to pick her up. She is so sweet and follows me everywhere. She is like a little lost soul, looking for love and attention. She walks fine now, but will always be weak in her hind quarter due to the pelvis injury. She loves to play and would make a wonderful companion to that special guardian angel willing to offer her a home and love. Please consider Hope, she so needs her own home and would be a wonderful addition to the who could offer her this. What a wonderful way to teach your children the true meaning of compassion, and unselfishness. Please consider Hope. Contact Samantha at v_s_holton@earthlink.net or by cell phone at (706) 871-8273.

About Our Rescue Group...
I am a Ga. Dept. of Agriculture licensed rescue/shelter. I have loved animals all my life and hate to see so many animals euthanized in our country. I have a low cost spay neuter clinic, ready since March of 07 but cannot find a veterinarian willing to work here even one day per week. I was an EMT for several years and now devote all my time to rescue including transporting to other low cost spay neuter clinics, as a community service.
