ARWNY was begged to take on this case of an "Akita" in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland that has been chained outside for the last several years of his life along with 2 female dogs. His ears were being eaten by maggots. We were assured by the ACO and a shelter worker that he was a purebred, and his nickname was BayBay. Well that's all ARWNY needed to hear -- since "BaeBae" is the name of Kathy & Jenn's old boy, all of ARWNY wanted to help save this poor soul from life on a chain with the similar name. Once the owner surrendered him, we drove down to get him with the help of Lynn from DOGS DESERVE BETTER and found a sweet Collie/Akita mix instead of the purebred Akita we thought we were getting! But there was no doubt in our minds we had to take him in because his personality is SO sweet! He is of course, mildly nervous of things right now but even when nervous, all he does is kiss us, want to lean on us and want to be loved! BayBay was a hit at my vet's office, where he was found to be Heartworm & Lyme positive. Yet despite all the bloodwork done, all he did was kiss and lean into my vet and techs there for some loving. He was aged at approx. 5 yrs. and needs to be treated for the HW and then neutered. But we feel he has been a house dog at some point -- he will NOT mess in his run, he waits to be taken out in the mornings and he isn't afraid of noises or walking thru doorways. He rides like a champ in the car, and so far has shown no interest in other dogs. We need to raise the money to treat his HW and get him neutered, and then he will need a fabulous foster home or permanent home willing to raise his trust levels again -- showing him that he will never be chained outside again, but will instead become a beloved house pet with love 24/7!!! This handsome middle-aged gent has a fabulous temperament despite humans constantly letting him down! Adoption contact required.
