Misty (LF)'s story...
Misty is a gorgeous white spayed female pitbull terrier that is 1-2 years old. She is current on vaccinations and heartworm negative. Misty needs to be an "only dog" or with a submissive dog in her new home, as she has an alpha personality. She seems to be much better with male dogs. Misty is fantastic and loyal with people of all sizes and ages; she wants to be loved and petted all the time and she just melts if you play with her or show her any attention at all. She would love to be an "inside" dog and sleep in bed with her family/owner. Misty is perfectly behaved inside the house and she is crate-trained, as well.

History: Misty was found as a stray on the streets of Memphis. Misty loves people, loves to run and play and jump into the air; she would love to live inside with a forever family. Her foster mother loves her very much but wants her to have the chance to get to sleep in the bed with her "family" and have all her dreams come true.

Misty's donation is $400 which covers all vet care (vaccinations, spaying/neutering, deworming, etc.) and includes their transportation up to New England. PAWS New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives. Unless otherwise stated, all of our dogs are being boarded at a vet clinic located in Tennessee. If a dog is "local", that means he or she is at one of our foster homes in New England.

Want to help a friend in need? Thousands of dogs are euthanized each year at the pound we pull from due to lack of space. Our funding directly determines how many dogs we can save! Donations can be made by clicking the button below.

About Our Rescue Group...
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.

Our Adoption Process...
All of our dogs have an adoption fee of $400. This includes a $275 donation to the animal hospital that provided their care and their $125 transportation fee.

All of our dogs arrive altered, up to date on shots, and receive medication and treatment for any problems that are present in the animal hospital. Families that adopt rescue dogs are entitled to one free month of pet insurance!

PAWS requires all adopters to complete an online application and provide either a vet reference or two personal references. All adopters will be required to sign an adoption contract and a rider stating their dog will be taken to a vet of their choice within 72 hours for a fecal exam.

Our plan is to begin microchipping our animals within the next few months.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We serve all New England States except MA.
