When we found Joy, she was in the most horrific condition I’ve ever seen. Thankfully she was dumped when she was, because she wouldn’t have lasted another week out on the streets like that. Joy has been in her foster home now for almost 2 yrs. & is about 4 yrs. old. While she’s safe & very much loved, it’s not a good situation for this poor dear. You see Joy must spend an inordinate amount of time in a crate since she’s nervous around the other dogs in the home. It’s so sad to see her face with her pleading eyes peering at you from between the bars saying, "enough already, please let me out". She’s happiest when the other dogs are all put away & she has a chance to romp around her home enjoying her rawhides & especially snuggling with her foster mom. Joy would probably do best in a home with 1 or 2 other people - she needs a quiet place. She bonds tightly & would be an awesome companion to a single individual looking to share his or her life with a devoted pet. While she has blossomed into a wonderful pet, she’s protective of her toys & food (typical of dogs found in her condition that went thru an ordeal like she did). Since she’s scared around the other dogs, she won't go outside if she sees another one already out there. She would do best as an only pet - but she will make a nice one. Right now, the lack of exercise & quality bonding time together is taking its toll. She exhibits absolutely no aggression towards people & will melt you with her soulful gaze. Joy will appreciate the fact that she is safe, comfortable, loved & will never have to worry about where to find her next meal.
