About Our Rescue Group...
Located in Nassau County, New York, the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was founded in 1973 under the name, 'The League for Animal Protection' -- a nonprofit organization originally designed to protect animals in the county from abuse and neglect, and provide for their basic welfare. We also hold concurrent status as a state law enforcement agency with the special authority to enforce NYS Agriculture & Markets Law, and all other state and local humane laws. We are the only animal protection agency officially designated to operate within the county's borders.

We do not have enough funding for our own adoption facility or shelter, so we must rely upon outside sources for assistance.

Animals up for adoption are all fostered by private individuals, the veterinarians or hospitals treating them, or the shelter to which they were originally taken.
