Lexie's Story...
Hi folks! My name is Lexie and I am a sweet little 11 year old girl from Northeast Alabama. I love my foster home but really do hope to have my Forever Home soon.. I am an a bit grumpy at times around other dogs and might do better in a home where I am the only dog. But I am getting along allright so far with the dog I am currently bunking with and some other foster hounds that come here.... I am even getting along with the cat! I do boss the occassional Foster Basset that comes in but then I was here first.
One thing I can tell you is that I LOVE lots of hugs and rubbings! I am a very mushy and affectionate girl! And absolutely love car rides and leash walking. I also love Pizza, so if you have some I will whine for a bit of crust.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We try to hold an adoption day once a month at a PetSmart or PetCo location. Annually in April or May we have the Basset Bash at Oak Mountain State Park, Al. This is our major fundraising effort and is a "homecoming" of sorts for the bassets. Folks who adopted in the past travel to AL from all over just to be a part of the fun, food, and festivities. Watch for all events to be posted on our website at www.bhra.org

Our Adoption Process...
When a hound comes in it is medically evaluated and treated and all shots given, spay/neuter as necessary. Then they are placed in an approved foster home until an adoption application is received. The adopting home is visited by a volunteer and a report provided to the Adoption Coordinator who makes the final decision.
Once approved, transport is set up and the hound travels to the new home. A followup is done onthe adoption about 30-60 days out. The adoption fee runs $175-$275 depending on the age of the hound.
