NOTE: This rescue is registered in Cary, NC, but our rescued dogs are in foster homes in various locations such as: PA, NY, TN, KY, GA, MN, etc For more information on our Rescue, or to fill out an adoption application please visit us at www.esrescue.org Iris was born on 4/15/08 and was turned in to us because her "breeder"/owner did not want her. Iris is a small, sweet, loving 10 month old tricolor English setter. Rescued from a breeder who did not want them because they weren't the standard setter size, Iris and her brother Troy are looking for homes. Iris is small for a setter at 24" high (shoulder) and 35 lbs. She can also be defined as a "velcro" setter. She seeks love and attention from her owner and will follow you around. She's very intelligent and knows "sit" and "come" on command already. Iris is also house trained (occasional accident). She won't go in the house unless absolutely necessary. She is currently in the puppy chewing phase and should not be left alone roaming a house. When she is with you, she will not seek something to chew on, but if left on her own she may pick something up. It is easy to distract her with a toy to chew on rather than your remote control. Iris is a great dog who wants love and attention. She's very sweet, but can be territorial about her human and her chew toys. It is probably recommended that Iris go to a home without another dog. She has been cat tested and appears fine. Iris may have the ability to climb chain link fences because she is currently able to climb over baby gates with foot spots. Wooden fences and tie-outs are fine (or just plan old leash walking is ok too). She can be a high energy puppy sometimes, but when she is indoors she is content lying on the couch next to you or sleeping on the floor. Iris does not like her crate and she needs more training to become comfortable going into it, but when she is inside she is quiet. Iris is looking for her forever home and will love anyone willing to give her the time and attention. |
