Birdy's story...
Hey - I'm Birdy, and I have a birthday coming up soon! I'll be 2 years old on 12/1/2009! I weigh about 60 pounds, and my foster Mom says that I ROCK!!

I'm named Birdy because when my ears are up (and out!) at full attention, they look like bird wings!

I'm eager to please and I can't get enough petting!! I'm not super needy though - I'll back off if you tell me to!

I'm a little unsure of myself sometimes - a sudden loud noise or movement might startle me a bit - but hey, wouldn't it startle you?

My foster Mom says I'm a klutz - but she says it's super entertaining! I know sometimes when I'm surprised at a noise or if I think my foster Mom and canine foster sister are going somewhere without me, or if I'm just trying to do the right thing, I'll end up losing sense of what my own body is doing! I guess it must be funny to see me step in my water bowl or knock the broom over - all because I'm excited!

I absolutely LOVE the dog park! I run, play, and have a ball - and my favorite thing to do there is to walk over to the giant water bucket, stick my WHOLE head under the water. trot over to an unsuspecting dog owner, and then shake off!

I'm housetrained, leash trained, and crate train. I know my basic obedience commands too!

I don't care for cats much and I howl if I hear a siren - but other than that, Mom says I'm the perfect girl!

I've been spayed, am heartworm negative, am up to date with vaccinations, and am on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

I won't be adopted out to a family with children under the age of 8 because I'm just not used to the activity levels of children younger than that.

About Our Rescue Group...
We are an all volunteer dog rescue organization started in 2002. Our mission is to provide safe refuge for stray, abused, neglected and owner-surrendered dogs. In addition, our organization works to rehabilitate dogs (medically and/or behaviorally) to aid in finding them carefully screened permanent, safe and loving homes where they will live as companion animals. We also educate the community and promote involvement with regard to animal welfare issues.

Come Meet Our Pets...
All of the puppies and dogs in our program are in foster homes - we do not have a central location. We hold adoption events every other Sunday at the Brier Creek PetSmart from 1-3 pm. Our schedule is posted on our website.
Our Adoption Process...
An adoption application is required. Veterinary references will be checked, as well as apartment/townhouse rental references. A home visit may or may not be required. A contract must be completed and an adoption fee paid prior to finalization of an adoption.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Primarily Wake County, North Carolina but also the surrounding counties of Franklin, Chatham, Orange, and Durham.
