After 2 years with me here in Manhattan, I have realized that it is the kindest thing I can do for Rumi and Dante. It is time to find them a family or couple, in the country or suburbs, who can provide for them in a better way than I am able to here in the city. They are the most gentle, loving dogs, who just need good food, some love and cuddles, and a place to run around. Off-leash exercise everyday is very important for them - this is not a breed that could be content with a couple of walks around the block each day. I am therefore hoping to find a family/couple who has a farm or at least a big back yard for them to explore, or perhaps lives near a beach as they love the water. The boys are in excellent health, full of life at 7.5 years old, litter mates, pure bred, and are well groomed and well behaved. They would make great family pets. They are fairly docile and affectionate indoors, like big lapdogs! Outside, they are happy occupying themselves, just exploring nature, chasing birds and running around. They are also playful and love to fetch as well! They are best friends and are each other's family, so wherever they go, they will need to stay together, as it would be too cruel to separate them at this point. Rumi weighs about 58 pounds and Dante weighs about 53 pounds. They did not grow up around cats so unfortunately they seem to view cats the same as squirrels, as game. They also have not spent much time around small children, so I really couldn't say there, except for in the elevator of my building. They are sensitive though and have good instincts. I believe my doorman has a young daughter and she used to walk them with him and play with them. English setters in good health typically live until they are 14, 15, or 16, so they are at the half way point in there lives. They bond very quickly with humans, as my dog-sitters can attest. Contact Camilla: 212 877 7799 and 917 434 1188. It is my number one priority to find them a loving home for the next half of their lives. This has not been an easy decision for me to make, but I do believe, if I can find the right home, that it will ultimately be the best thing for them. |
