I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with cats.
Prism was found as a shy and horribly emaciated stray. With plenty of good food and lots of TLC, she gained weight and quickly learned confidence in herself. As the weeks passed and she grew stronger, she became very energetic and playful. Here at the shelter, she enjoys going outdoors in the afternoons and sleeping on top of the big kennel in front of the window when it‘s time to come in for the night. Prism has been with us since around June 17th, 2008. Because she was a stray, we do not know for sure how she would do with dogs, but given time and appropriate introductions, we think she would do well. She seems to do well with the children who visit her at the shelter and like to chase the toys they bring.

As of March 1st, Animal Rescue and Adoption Society will be doing business as Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue to better reflect our mission and the population that we serve.
The ARAS Mission: ARAS is a no-kill cat shelter dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals, and providing a safe shelter and a second chance for homeless cats and kittens. Through outreach programs and community referrals, ARAS seeks to educate the public by providing current information regarding other rescue organizations and services when ARAS is unable to accommodate the animal in need.
ARAS is committed to helping animals in need of safe environments and people in need of solutions.
Established in 1982, the Animal Rescue and Adoption Society is a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter located in Denver, Colorado. Society staff and volunteers care for approximately 185 homeless and abandoned cats. ARAS receives no government funding and is dependent upon donations from the community and the proceeds from fundraising events.
The shelter is located in an industrial area, less than five miles from Downtown Denver. ARAS originally began in a garage, then relocated to its present location where it has existed for about 14 years.

Payable by check or cash--we can not accept credit cards.

We also offer MICROCHIPPING for the low price of $30.00 per pet. By having your pet microchipped, you may be saving his/her life in the event he or she gets lost!
