Cody's story...
Cody will melt your heart when you meet him... he is such a gentle soul! A Dog's Life Rescue took Cody from a hoarding situation where a man had over 150 dogs living outside in filthy cages, with no protection from the weather. Cody spent the first couple years of his life in a cage with very little human contact. Because of this, Cody was terrified of the outside world and people. We could tell from the moment we met Cody that he wouldn't hurt a fly and just needed some TLC and work on his confidence. When we first had him around other dogs, he would try to interact with them but it was obvious he wasn't quite sure how. He would just stand there with his tail between his legs, watching the other dogs play.
Cody has been with a behaviorist/trainer and has come leaps and bounds from the terrified dog we rescued from the hoarder. He now runs around the behaviorist property playing with the other dogs, tail wagging in the air. When he meets new people, he still takes his time but then leans in to give a little kiss. With people he knows he is a love bug... he'll lay with his head in your lap or at least make sure some part of him is touching you:) and is a big fan of being petted. Cody still likes familiar places. He would be more comfortable at home, then being out and about hiking, etc. When we pick him up from his the behaviorist, where he boards, he is happy to see us but not excited about leaving, and when we bring him back he pulls to get back inside. He does this, only because he sees the boarding facility as home right now. When he has a real forever home, he will become just as attached. He would be a good dog for more of a homebody but walks are good for him, and will continue to build his confidence. Cody is great with other dogs. He's also good with older kids. Young kids might be over-whelming for him. Cody is around 5 years old and a very handsome boy. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Cody, please contact us at: adogsliferescue@yahoo.com
