Chloe's Story...
My name is Chloe and I’m a “Doxier” ( a designer dog who’s one part doxi and one part terrier). I may not be a front runner for Miss Doxi America – yes, my legs are a bit long and my nose a bit short, but that just allows me to get around better than some of my short-legged pure doxi family members. It also means I’m not nearly as delicate and you don’t have to fuss about me too easily hurting myself when I do something as simple as walk down a few steps!! Because of my part-doxi DNA, I do have all of a dachshund’s most wonderful characteristics: I’m supper smart and have a very comical nature. I am a very dedicated ‘human-lover’ and boy to I love tummy rubs. But, from my terrier side – I’m not as stubborn and un-trainable as pure dachshund. My foster mom says that I am perfectly trained -- I'm obedient, gentle and housebroken. Matter of fact, my foster mom says that I would be a shoe-in (I don’t chew those either!) for the Miss Doxi Congeniality contest!!!! I'm about 7-8 years young and I weigh about 24 lbs (but could stand to loose a couple). I am in great health and get along with all manner of living creatures – other dogs, cats, humans short & tall, young & old. I’m great with kids! I will sit next to you on a couch and you can pet, hug and kiss me … I will never complain. When I get to know you, I promise to kiss you back two times for every kiss you give me. Quiet or commotion, it doesn’t bother me. I'm currently in a house with five doxies and we all get along very well. My foster mom would love to keep, but at her age, six dogs would be a bit much. It gets scary going from foster to foster. My wish to Santa was for a forever home.

I’m being fostered in Miami in case you want to stop by for a personal introduction. My adoption fee is a mere $100, for such a sweet girl.

If you are interested in moving forward with the dog above, you are welcome to fill out an application on our website (www.dachshundrescuesouthflorida.com) which we will process to find out a bit more about what kind of doxie would be a good match for your home. We ask potential forever homes to fill out an application as the first step in moving forward with any of our dogs for three reasons:

- We process all applications before making any introductions so we can help ensure people will be good home and have the right environment for a doxie

- Asking potential families to fill out an appliation helps us ensure we are utilzing our effrots working with those who are serious about adopting

- Lastly, this process minimizes visitors and interruptions to our foster homes for without whom, we would not be able to operate!

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Dachshund Rescue of South Florida is a foster based rescue who helps hotdogs regardless of age, health, or behavioral issues find new homes after being in a shelter, as a stray out on the streets, or owner surrendered.

We take our work very seriously and screen our potential forever families thoroughly to ensure that our dogs will never have to worry or want for anything ever again.

Our mission is to educate people who may be unfamiliar with rescue and the time, love, and compassion that goes into identifying a little one in a shelters through getting them settled into their new forever home and why choosing to rescue a dog can be one of the most rewarding things a family can choose to do.

If you are looking to add a dachshund to your family we would love to work with you. We have done our best to help explain the process and share some our favorite "happy tales" from our former dogs with their new forever families. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and we are looking forward to meeting you!
