3,000 residents at a trailer park are informed that they need to be out. Some had nowhere to go. If they have nowhere to go, where do their pets go? Adopt A Stray is still removing cats as we are able. We did not think Navy would be one to survive, here is his story. When Navy was picked up he was under 3 pounds, lifeless and covered with mange. He did not move, eat or respond. His hip bones pertruded and were sharp. The kitten got his first treatment for mange and was taken to the vet to be tested for FIV and FeLv, thankfully he was negative. After his physical exam the vet said he was also extremely anemic, emaciated and probably never had a real meal. She also said he was not a kitten. He had ALL his adult teeth and had to be at least 7 months old. It was the saddest news...to find out this cat was in such bad shape. One month later and LOTS of meals: Navy is affectionate, demanding and learning what toys are. He is fine in new situations. He is still very small for his age and may never grow to his adult size. We call him our Little Man. Navy has gained some weight, still thin, but so cute. You can meet Navy most Saturdays at the Pembroke Pines PetsMart.
Update: Navy is filling out and almost the size of an adult cat. If you are unsteady on your feet then Navy is not the kitty for you. He loves to rub against you for some good loving.
