We are always happy to have sponsors for our animals. Sponsors can make donations directly to Trailway Veterinary Clinic, Bethany, MO, 64424, to help defray our vetting costs. All of our dogs and cats are fully vetted and comes from our own finances. By donating to Trailway Vet Clinic you may take as a tax deduction and also help a homeless animal without having to directly adopt the animal.
Heidi here. I am a shepherd mix and my owners are having difficulty caring for me. You can see from my pictures that I look pretty 'rough'. My dream is to find my forever new home where I can receive love and undivided attention from my human family. I am a laid back girl, who just is looking for some good love and companionship. Will it be you? I am only about 3-4 years old and am a very good natured lady. I apologize for the terrible pictures, but I need grooming badly.
If interested in one of our animals we will forward an adoption application/agreement and a spay/neuter agreement if the animal is very young. All our animals are required to be spayed/neutered. If an adoption does not work out, we want the animal back to our care. Our adoption fee is reimbursement for any vetting the animal has had to date.

I began ARK in February of this year when I became very upset over the Albany Animal Shelter and the fact that they euthanized dogs that could have been adopted out. The shelter manager at the time did not advertise the dogs, would put them down if they were black, had pit in them or she just didn't think they were adoptable. She had 6 week old puppies euthanized because she said they were not adoptable. I just could not let this continue and I got involved with saving 19 dogs in there at the time, plus a total of about 150-175 to date. My intention was to help people find new homes for their pets if they could no longer keep them and to take in strays and dumped dogs and find them the perfect forever new home for them. There have been many many happy endings for several dogs who would have been euthanized. I love animals and I can't see an animal suffer and if I had the money I would have something similar to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah.
If anyone is interested in visiting an adoptable pet they can either come to the Bethany, MO, area, or we can meet at a mutually convenient location. They can come to my place if they like.
Our Adoption Process...
An applicant will fill out an adoption form and questionaire and then we will look it over and ask further questions if we feel more information is needed. We are looking for good, loving, permanent homes and prefer the animal be an indoor animal. We have the adoption agreement which states that the animal will be well cared for, given proper vetting and be kept current on all vaccinations, etc. Spay/neuter is a requirement. Either the animal can be altered before it goes to the new family or they may have the animal altered, if an adult, within 30 days, providing proof of same to us. If a puppy the owner has 6 months to provide proof of spay/neuter. If we provide the vetting we ask that the vetting costs be reimbursed by the adopter, and the payment can be made directly to the vet performing the service.
