Cher was found wandering as a stray in a neighborhood with her boyfriend, Sonny. A caring person was feding her. She was loyal and never left the yard, but shy and had to be tranquilized to be caught. She has been living in a foster home in Ellijay since 10/08 and loves being a house dog. She is a shy girl. She plays well with other dogs and cats.
Cher is an excellent companion! She is housetrained, obedience trained (basic) and a pleaser. She rides well in the car and likes to fetch a ball. She is timid at first with strange people or circumstances, but soon relaxes.
In her foster home, she has a crate as a safe retreat and a marrow bone. She only has the gate closed at feeding time so others don't eat her food. She needs a fenced area, however small, as a 'potty spot' because she won't do her business on a leash. At first, keep her on a schedule to go out. Cher is the first to bark at anything unusual, sharp hearing, and may bark when left alone. Tell Cher 'Hury Up' to do her business. She has been eating Purina Pro Plan or Purina One Chicken and Rice. Her favorite treat is a little piece of cooked liver. She shows no intrest in biscuits.
She is spayed, current on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative and has been started on flea and heartworm preventative. Adoption fee is $145.00.

Homeward Bound is a non profit, no-kill organization based in Gilmer County, Georgia which began in August 2000. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted companion animals, while actively seeking permanent homes through our adoption programs. We take in dogs and cats that are found as strays, owner surrenders and abandoned. We also take animals out of high kill shelters to prevent them from being euthanized. We have rescued and adopted out about 4,000 animals.
We hold adoptions every Saturday from 11-5 and every odd Sunday (1st, 3rd and 5th) at PetSmart, 860 Cobb Place Blvd., Kennesaw, GA 30144 (off of Barrett Parkway).
Our Adoption Process...
All dogs are spayed/neutered, current to age on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative, and started on heartworm preventative and flea preventative. Adoption fee for dogs are $145.00 cash or check.
All cats are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, FELV/FIV negative and started on flea preventative. Adoption fee is $110.00 cash or check.
Application review and approval is required prior to adopting. Adopters must be at least 21 years old.
