Heidi's story...
Heidi has been passed over for a home over and over again because she is black and everyone thinks she isn't pretty. She may not be winning any beauty pageants, but she has a big heart and loves everyone and everything. She is almost completely recovered from demodex mange, a non contagious skin condition caused by a faulty immune system. Heidi is about 10 months old and is doing well at Connie's house. She is living with other dogs, loves children and is one of the best natured pets I have seen in a while. Here is a little secret in the rescue industry: the pets that find themselves in a shelter environment for health reasons are NOT the pets with temperament problems. Heidi is a shining example of a wonderful pet who came from a less than wonderful environment. You can call Connie directly at (203) 253-1254 or email. If you cannot adopt but would like to help this pet, click on the sponsor me tag on this webpage. Your donations will be applied to her medical costs and remember, FOBAS is completely non profit. When you donate, you are donating to the animals. We do not get paid for what we do, we are strictly volunteer and our organization is a valid 501c3 organization, so your donations are completely tax deductible.

About Our Rescue Group...
Rescue pets from abuse and neglect. We love dogs and often live with them prior to adoption to take as much of the guesswork out of placing pets as possible. When I approached the dynamic of adopting a shelter pet, I approached the problem as an adopter and not a rescuer. I don't want to be bitten either. So, we live with them. Usually for about two weeks. If they make us nervous (we have tons of experience) chances are, the pet is not suitable for adoption. If we fall in love, we know you will! We will tell you everything we know - that may scare you off, but hopefully, it will leave you assured our pets are what we represent. We get it right far more often than not. When we get it wrong, we will take our dog back, welcome your comments, and place the pet in the best home for that pet.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We are an independent rescue organization focusing on the harder to place pets. Our pets are in foster homes or boarded at our facility in Milford, Connecticut. We are currently working with the Trumbull Animal Shelter to assist them in pet adoptions. Shelter pets at located at 324 Church Hill Road, Trumbull and are available for viewing Monday through Saturday from 10-3:30 and Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7-9. The phone number at the Trumbull shelter is (203) 452-5088. If you are interested in one of our pets not in the shelter, call me (Virginia) at 203-378-6917 or my friend Barb at (203) 378-7454. Barb is easier to reach. We also offer our services to other area kennels upon request. F.O.B.A.S. provides for the needs of pet quality, sick, injured or abused pets upon request from shelters or veterinary facilities when the pets are faced with euthanasia. We take in owner release dogs on a case by case basis. F.O.B.A.S. IS NOT ASSOCIATED OR AFFILIATED WITH THE BRIDGEPORT ANIMAL SHELTER - NO PET ON THIS WEBSITE IS LOCATED AT THAT SHELTER.
Our Adoption Process...
We will ask you to complete an application. We may or may not require a home visit. Our donation requests depend on the pet. Most are $75.00; however puppies and kittens are more. The profit we make on the puppies and kittens offsets the medical costs of the larger, older pets. All pet adoptions for pets at the Trumbull Animal Shelter are decided by Lynn DellaBianca, Director of the Trumbull Animal Shelter. Pets owned by F.O.B.A.S are placed by F.O.B.AS.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
