Cathy Cat's Story...
Cathy Cat was found walking down a street called Cattail Road, but she certainly was no stray. Maybe she's just a silly girl who escaped her home and then couldn't find her way back. She was at the shelter a long time and actually was allowed to run around like the office cat. She likes a calm home, so toddlers would probably send her under the bed, but she seems so happy to make biscuits in the middle of a big, fluffy quilt and then nap the day away. She loves rattle mice and rattle balls and, well, anything that rattles! She's kind of a tomboy in that she loves food and play more than anything! She's not aggressive at all and is so round-headed and cute; she's very tidy with her food and litterbox. She has a lot of black fur but is a brilliant-colored calico, black, orange and white, with a lovely little beauty mark dotting her white cheek. She is also a petite cat who gets along with with other cats and could adjust to an older, calm dog.

About Our Rescue Group...
Cat Rescue, Inc., saves cats slated for euthanasia at overloaded shelters. No cat is adopted out prior to spay or neuter. The home organization is based in Chesapeake, managing the pet center in the Petsmart at Greenbrier Mall, Chesapeake. Adoptions number approximately 500 per year. We are a 501(c)(3)nonprofit, ALL VOLUNTEER, home foster based, no-kill organization. All donations and contracts paid are submitted to the director of Cat Rescue, Inc., in Chesapeake, Va., and are applied to food and medical needs of cats and kittens under the organization's care. The organization is committed to accepting any cat adopted from us if the owner for any reason has to give up the cat, for the rest of the cat's life; in effect, we provide a "life insurance" policy for these cats so that they never have to end up on "death row" in a shelter again.

Come Meet Our Pets...
On Feb. 18-19, we will conduct adoptions at the Swift Creek Petco in Midlothian off Hull Street at 13329 Rittenhouse Drive (on 1st and 3rd Saturdays). Other Saturdays, we're at the Chester Petco at Hwy. 10 and Jefferson Davis, in Bermuda Square Shopping Center, 12633 Jeff Davis Highway, along with Starbucks, Shoneys and Martins. Hours are noon-7. Please call to confirm and to ensure the cat you want to see will be at the store that day, since we don't bring all the cats. We normally have cats no younger than six months old. All are spayed/neutered and have distemper and rabies shots, are wormed and tested for feline AIDS and leukemia. As a home-based foster organization, the cats are treated as companion pets. All food and medical bills are paid by the foster family without reimbursement, so adopters are assured that their adoption fees go toward the care and well-being of cats in the organization, many who have staggering medical bills, or who are unadoptable and must be cared for throughout their lifetime by the organization. In general, the basic cost of vetting a normal cat without medical issues is $200-300, so the $75 adoption fee is far below what has been invested in each cat.
