Lanna's story...
Lanna is a dream dog! She loves loves loves people large and small and is a snuggler (a true pittie through and through of course)! She loves to be loved and cuddled and really, that is all she is asking for. Lanna has been waiting OVER A YEAR for her forever home. Will you please give her a chance? Lanna is the perfect house companion as she is calm and house and crate trained, but not destructive if you choose not to crate her. She is about two years old, 70 pounds and needs very little exercise to be happy. A quick game of fetch and a walk around the block is all she needs. Really, how perfect is that? You have a snuggly couch potato who doesn't want to or need to go out for an hour long walk in the rain or snow. If you have ever been around hyper dogs who need exercise no matter what the weather, you can certainly appreciate Lanna. Actually, Lanna has an enlarged heart so should be kept quiet in the hot weather, but really, who wants to go out for long walks in the heat anyway?! She won't be your jogging companion, but dinner and a movie in your living room companion is right up her alley.
Lanna has gone to the vet, to obedience classes and public adoption events and she has acted like the good gentle girl she is each time. She has been taught some basic obedience, but will wait to see if a new person is going to make her actually do it or if she can get a free treat instead! Lanna does ok on short car trips where she can sit next to the window but gets a little sick on very long car rides, but she can work up to long road trips with her forever family we are certain of it! Lanna is good with children and dogs that let her take the lead. She actually likes small dogs, too! Our contact at the shelter said Lanna plays beautifully with her male dog and they get along just fine because he doesn't try to push her around. With a little love, a few rules and comfy bed, Lanna will be the perfect companion.
Mutts4rescue was recently formed by a group of volunteers from New England, TN, GA, LA & OH, who were already working together with purebred rescues, to find homes for those "other" just as special dogs. We take in owner surrenders and work with many shelters in the south where 100s of dogs are put down daily simply because there is no room. A lack of spay/neuter laws as well as a lack of education results in severe over population and causes us to have to save "one dog at a time". We are a newer group who relies on foster homes and donations. Because we are adopting "mutts" we can't charge an adoption fee as high as some of the pure bred rescues. We rarely cover our costs.
We are in desperate need of more foster homes. Most dogs spend 2-4 weeks with you while they find their new family. Without foster homes our dogs would never make it out of the shelters.
Because we do not have a shelter to visit we ask that you begin by completing an application. We will have the sponsor, for the dog, contact you within a couple of days to discuss your application. If you both agree it is a match we will invite you to meet the dog. Our foster families are opening their homes, time and family to our adopters so we respect them but approving applicants before allowing them into their home.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption process starts with an application. From there, the sponsor for the dog will call your vet reference and contact you. We require a home visit and a signed contract. Our adoption fee is $350 due to our lack of foster homes and the large number of dogs from the south needing heartworm treatment.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Our adoption fee is $350, complete vetting and transport included. All dogs are healthy unless stated in the bio. No surprises!! Mutts4rescue is a volunteer only rescue group who utilizes a network of foster homes to adopt our dogs to all areas of New England. We do not have an actual shelter location. We rely on boarding, foster homes and donations 100%.
