EVEREST's Meet Your Match Feline-alityTM is PERSONAL ASSISTANT (Orange) You're working on the computer? Let me press the keys. Reading the paper? I'll hold the pages down for you. Watching TV? I'll just plop on your lap so you can pet me. I love an orderly household, don't you? I'll help you with all your chores, and I'll help you relax when we're done. You'll wonder how you ever managed without me. EVEREST - despite the hugeness her name implies, Everest is a slender, lovely tabby with distinctive charcoal, black, grey and white markings. She also has delightful splashes of soft creamy sunshine on her ears, cheeks, and on the leather of her nose. What's big about Everest is her huge fun-loving spirit. She exudes a joyful delight in life. Her round gold-green eyes are filled with wonder, playfulness and intelligence. Everest is a sweet, pretty delight of a gal. She is very curious about her surroundings. She is delightfully active and rambunctious. This cuddly young cat is filled with humorous joy. She has a bit of the prankster in her soul. She loves petting and kisses. And will reward you with a soft head butt, a gentle purr, and her own sweet kitty kisses in generous appreciation of your affection. Everest deserves a place where she can express her rich and wonderful gifts. Her journey's barely begun. There are so many adventures to come. What she needs most of all is someone who can match her mountain high soul, and happy tender heart. All Everest asks in return for the pleasure of her company, is a safe, loving, warm and caring home. A place where all of her many gifts can shine like a sparkling sun flashing from the bright fresh gleam of her big hearted being. Everest had previously been adopted but was unfortunately returned to the shelter because she just wasn't comfortable in her new home. It appears that she wasn't happy with the resident cat. It is unclear why a cat as sweet as Everest does not adjust to another cat, but she does deserve another chance in a forever home. Her previous owner had these words to say about her, Everest is an affectionate girl full of curiosity with a beautiful spirit. Don't expect to sleep in because once she hears the alarm she'll be nibbling and purring in your ear. Her favorite thing to do is lay in the window watching the cars, animals, and children go by. She also enjoys watching the clothes spin around in the front loading washer. Everest is quite the little chatter box and will talk your ear off from the time you get home until you go to bed unless she is busy cuddling. She doesn't like to be carried or held, but she does love kisses and to cuddle or lay next to her human, always having some sort of physical contact. Her favorite toys are ones with feathers or lights, balls, laser pointers, and those furry little mice. Be careful when the door is open because this little Houdini will find a way to get outside. She would probably do best as an only cat. Based on the above comments from her previous owner, we believe Everest would be happier when she doesn't have to share her human(s) with another cat. Being an only cat will make this very special cat feel 'special' and we all like to feel special. Come by the shelter and meet Everest. She is ready once again to find her forever home. js updated 3/18/09 Find out who your perfect feline match is. Take our Meet Your Match survey. Click here to get started ... The Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is the Pacific Northwest’s largest non-profit, no-kill cat shelter with its own full service on-site veterinary hospital. CAT rescues, rehabilitates and places the community’s abandoned, neglected and injured cats and kittens into loving, lifetime homes. CAT not only partners with the community but with local county shelters, rescue groups and veterinary offices to take in cats that might otherwise be euthanized due to medical problems or space constraints. CAT saves close to 3,000 lives per year and relies heavily on the support of the public and generous volunteers. Thank you for visiting our site and helping us save lives!

The Cat Adoption Team requires all potential adoptive families to meet with a trained adoption counselor before adopting a cat. Families must complete an application and sign a contract, which outlines our organization's adoption guidelines. Individuals who are interested in adopting a cat or kitten are welcome to call our facility to discuss these guidelines before visiting our adoption center.
In order to give our kittens a strong, healthy start in life, and to minimize behavior problems by assuring that they are fully weaned and litter box trained, we do not adopt out any kitten until they are at least 8-10 weeks old.
Cats or kittens that test positive for leukemia or FIV can still live relatively long and healthy lives in an indoor, stress-free environment. They must, however, be adopted to homes that either have no other cats or already have asymptomatic leukemia- or FIV-positive cats. These diseases cannot be passed on to humans; they can, however, be transmitted through blood to healthy cats. Therefore, these cats must be placed in indoor-only home.
