Sam came into our rescue program on December 9, 2005. Sam is an 12 year old Sorrel Quarter Horse Gelding. He is underweight and spooky right now. He needs a lot of TLC and hopefully as he gains his weight, he will also gain trust. He is very unsure of us and his surroundings, which is understandable. He also seems very interested in the other horses and I think that he has been very lonely and just wants to be in a herd. We will update as Sam improves. We will make sure that he is broke to ride and have him up to date on vaccinations, deworming and teeth floated. At that time he will be available for adoption. Please check back later for information as to when he is available for adoption.
Update March 2006: Update: Sam has gained weight extremely nicely and looks really great. Sam is a sweetheart and has really made a special place in my heart. Sam is a little timid at first around new people, but once he sees that you care and love him he really starts to open up. Sam is a wonderful horse that needs someone to love him and grow with him. Sam loves treats and of course his meals. He will talk your ear off when food is involved. He has a special personality and one that you will not regret letting into your heart. We don't have enough background on his riding abilities. We plan to put at least 30 rides on him before he leaves to go to a forever home. If you are interested in adopting Sam, please contact Natalee. He is a wonderful horse. He gets along great with other horses and prefers to have a buddy. Sam is current on vaccinations, current negative coggins, teeth floated and dewormed.
Update 5/5/06, Sam is doing great under saddle. He is extremely smart and tries to please when he is being ridden. Sam would be best suited for a Experienced Rider. Sam doesn't try to hurt anyone but can be a bit nervous under saddle for the first 5 minutes of his riding. After that, he settles in to the ride and the rider and starts to ride with confidence. He is an excellent horse and the more that he is ridden the better he will become. Sam is ready for that loving, forever home.
Sam has been returned from his adoptive home on December 15, 2006. Sam was returned after several riding accidents. Sam is a very intelligent horse and once again, I cannot stress enough that he must have an experienced rider. Sam will get ridden here several more times before we attempt to place him with another family. We will update with further information as we continue to put some riding time on Sam. If you are potentially interested in adopting Sam, please submit an application now. Serious Inquiries only please. You can download an adoption application at www.blazesequinerescue.com/contract. Sam would also be a great family pet or companion to another horse.
Sams's adoption fee is $500.00.
