Cela's Story...
I was one of 40+ cats living near a homeless camp at Celilo Park in the Columbia River Gorge. Men from two camps in the same area began fighting over the ccats until some of the cats had been killed and one camper beat the other to the point he would not be returning. Catlink decided that even given the overcrowded conditions this time of year to step forward and rescue as many as posible. We were living in a ditch between Hwy 84 and a busy railroad track and 8 miles from town. I was very sick when caught and the last cats to be trapped. It didn't take long to realize how much better things could be. I stayed in the home of the administrator until I recovered from a bad URI and enimia. I like people though I am not the outgoing kitten I should be partly because I am in a shelter, given a loving home I would have the opportunity to get bacy my childhood.

About Our Rescue Group...
Catlink is a private shelter which evolved in 1998 for placing recently abandoned and young kittens found while running the only feral spay and neuter clinic in the Columbia River Gorge. We strive to maintain a family living situation for all cats and we regularly introduce dogs and young adults to the population to lessen the stress of transitioning into a new environment when they leave us to their forever home. Many times in the spring the demand is so huge that we fill all our foster homes and end up turning far to many back out to colonies with a caregiver, not the family they need and deserve.
We run entirely on volunteers NO PAID wages. NO INTAKE FEES, we help people place pets when we can but work with abandoned and ferals except on rare occasions. YES as far as I know we are the only ones who pick up sick or injured cats. Animal control doesn't, and to our knowledge they stay in the ditch until some kind person takes responsibility or someone contacts us.
Our euthanasia policy is that a cat must be deemed by a licensed veterinarian to be fatally ill or fatally injured.
