Tilla is a very sweet and gorgeous girl who is about a year old and weighs 35 lbs. We think she may a Foxhound mix. She is a stunningly beautiful girl and will make a fabulous walking, hiking and cuddling companion. She has a fine tan coat with a black saddle and large soft brown doe eyes. She is up to date on her vetting and is micro-chipped.

Oh boy, this is one very very nice girl .... she has the sweetest nature and gentle playfulness about her... Tilla is just the nicest little girl! She is curious about the cats but not aggressive in any way, and loves all the other dogs. She learned how to sit in 5 minutes... smart cookie!

Tilla is a typical hound and explores the yard with her nose up seeking out all the good smells in the air, and the Spring return of squirrels and other critters has her bursting with excitement  :0) A very securely fenced yard and walks on a leash or long line will keep her safe. She is a little shy at first but very nice with people and loves to have her back scratched :0)

Tilla gets along very well with the other dogs here and is fine with cats too. She is potty trained and loves to den up in her crate. She is a loving very gentle girl who appreciates a soft touch.

Tilla will require further training like all young dogs and containment when she cannot be supervised to keep her out of trouble. She is food motivated, which will help with training. She requires a soft-spoken patient owner to gain more confidence, and lots of exploratory walks :0) Tilla will make a wonderful companion for walking, hiking, camping, moderate jogging, travelling and just chilling in front of the TV with.

Tilla is being fostered in the Ottawa-Cornwall area. If you are interested in adopting her, please email catahoula@sympatico.ca for information and an adoption application.

About Our Rescue Group...
Canadian Hound Rescue is dedicated to promoting responsible hound ownership. Many of the hounds that end up in shelters or rescue are abandoned hunting dogs that were previously tied to a doghouse outside for most of the year, only to be let loose during hunting season. We believe that no hound should have to suffer such a fate, and will place hounds as indoor pets only. Since many of our hounds have never lived in a house before, all dogs are initially placed in foster homes where they are housetrained and learn basic house manners. While in foster care our hounds are also spayed or neutered, brought up to date on vaccinations, and provided with any necessary medical care. Finally, their temperament and personality are evaluated so that we can find the best possible match between each individual hound and its adoptive home.

Come Meet Our Pets...
If you would like to meet one of our hounds please contact us as they are located in foster homes throughout Ontario. We always need more foster homes. Fostering is essential to Canadian Hound Rescue in saving hounds and keeping our rescue going. The more homes we have, the more dogs we can save.
Our Adoption Process...
All adoptive homes are required to go through a screening process that includes a telephone interview, filling out an application, reference checks and a home visit. An adoption fee is required to offset some of the costs incurred in caring for and re-homing each hound. Canadian Hound Rescue remains committed to each animal for the rest of its life and if, at any time and for any reason, the adoption does not work out, we require that the hound be returned to us.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Canadian Hound Rescue is a small, not-for-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to helping homeless and abandoned hounds find loving and permanent homes as indoor pets. We mainly operate in Ontario, but have volunteers in other provinces as well. We rescue all breeds of coonhounds including the Black and Tan, Bluetick, Redbone, English, Plott Hound, and Treeing Walker Coonhounds. We also rescue Bloodhounds and hound mixes.
