Sam came to the shelter awhile back, and he was not in the best form. He was tired; he didn't feel good; he had heartworms. A local Spa and Retreat (otherwise known as a foster home) took him in, and thanks to their tender care, Sam is now a new man! He's healthy and strong. He's become alert. And best of all, his true loving personality shines through brightly. This kind of dog craves training, and Sam is no exception. He loves learning new things. As you watch him in the video, you can see the degree of focus Sam is capable of, and how quickly he learns. What do you want to teach him? Sit, stay? No problem. Other basic commands? Piece of cake. (Which he would also like!) And if a working dog is needed, Sam shows the tendency for herding that can only come naturally. Of course, if what you want is a lover baby to pose on the couch and accept treats, he should be okay with that, too. As far as cats go, Sam likes 'em fine. He hardly barks at all - ever. Sam walks well on a lead, but also likes to be right next to his human without one, so he'd make for a terrific exercise partner, as well.
Having beat the dreaded Big H, Sam has dedicated himself to finding and pleasing the special person now looking for him on Adopt A Pet. Could that Special One be you? If you think Sam might be the right pooch for your home, please call the Town of Hickory Creek Animal Control to meet him.
