Tiger and Lilly came to us as very young cats and were adopted together. They were then dumped over a year later by their adopter, claiming that they were strays (thus, not paying a surrender fee). We were able to adopt them out together, in spring of 2009. A month later the adopter had her sister surrender them to the previous shelter. The reason, they were not using their litter box. However, the sister noted that the adopter seldom cleaned the kitty box. I would agree with Tiger and Lilly I don’t like to use dirty rest rooms either! Luckily the shelter contact us this second time and we are trying again to get this pair adopted out together. The adoption fee set for these cats is $65 for the pair. June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. However, these cats’ adoption fees are already reduced.
Adoption Information:
Please remember that every animal available for adoption through an A.P.E.-affiliated organization is fully-vetted for its age and only needs routine preventive care. Dogs older then 6 months of age are heartworm tested; all cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FELUK/FIV). All dogs are kept on heartworm preventative. Every dog and cat is vaccinated (age appropriate), microchipped, and de-wormed, in addition to being spayed/neutered.
We are asking for interested parties to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire prior to lining up an appointment to visit the animal(s) at the animal's home.
For more information on our adoption procedures, (such as requiring adopters to travel to central Iowa to pick the animal up when approved to adopt as A.P.E. does not ship animals or meet people half way) or to obtain a pre-adoption questionnaire to become eligible to adopt, please visit our website's Adoption Page.
