Frankie is really beginning to blossom into a wonderful, happy dog in his current foster home. He’s still people shy & under-socialized at this point. He’ll need an experienced owner. However on 7/10/09, he met with the "Pit Bull Guru", Drayton Michaels, (www.pitbullguru.com) & his associate, Alison, at their facility in Red Bank for a training/counter conditioning evaluation session. Happily, Drayton thinks Frankie is quite sound, considering his beginnings & thinks he’ll do well with future sessions & at home training. He’s already well on his way to being a great companion & demonstrates a funny & happy personality with his foster mom. We’re looking for an adoptive home that is willing to continue his training & socialization after adoption, since he’ll need this for his complete development. We prefer a quieter, kind & motivated home (without small children who Frankie could easily knock over in his enthusiasm). He’s working on crate training right now & most times he keeps his crate clean & dry. He’s about 85-95% trained (he doesn’t poo in the crate at all), & is doing well with positive encouragement. He enjoys his kongs, stuffed with surprise treats, & loves to "eviscerate" his squeaky toys & then will play with the "skins" for days or weeks until he decides to shred them, too. He's learning commands like "sit", "Frankie, come", "Frankie, look", etc. & is doing very well. He likes going for short walks, but isn’t real crazy about getting in the car at this point. In the fenced-in back yard, he loves exploring every nook & cranny, or other times, loves tearing around like a runaway train & playing with his foster mom or having her pet & love him up. We haven't as yet put him out with the resident dogs in his foster home, as we are looking to introduce him to a well trained & safe dog to initiate him into the world of play with other puppers. Frankie is in dire need of a new home after being seized by a hoarder who fancied himself a "breeder" of show dogs. While the conditions he lived in all his life were less than ideal, Frankie & all his litter-mates have exceptional personalities. He’s about 80 lbs. We were told that Frankie was dog aggressive, but we don’t see that in him. He was frightened at first & kept giving us the "whale eye" but once he had his bath, he was a different dog. He wagged his tail & actually willingly came to us for affection. He’s a big guy & is quite strong. All these dogs needed to be removed a.s.a.p. out of the horrid condition they were kept in. Their "home" was a "un-air conditioned" garage, where they were stacked in plastic kennels with no air circulation. The stench was nauseating & the dogs got next to no socialization. They are all timid but, they do have nice temperaments. They were just horribly neglected & never shown any love or affection. They’re 3 yrs. old & it’s time to get them into a real home with a nice yard where they’ll have the chance to experience life on the 'outside'. They were absolutely filthy & the first thing they got after being 'sprung' was a good bath at KatandK9 in Brick, NJ. Most of them have urine burns & infections on their legs & lower bodies from sitting & lying in their own urine since they never got out of their kennels. Please open your hearts & wallets to help us help these poor dears. They only know the inside of a dark, damp & dreary place. Let's work together to bring some sunshine into their lives. All Star Pet Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit, no-kill organization formed in April 2006. We don’t have a facility & are comprised solely of foster homes for homeless pets. Our mission is to network with other shelters & rescue groups to take in animals needing a new start. We don’t discriminate based on breed, age or health status & only place the animals in loving & responsible homes. We also work to educate the public about the benefit of spaying or neutering their animals & the usefulness of micro-chipping.
We receive no public funding & count on animal lovers to help provide the medical care & supplies necessary for the health, safety & comfort of our rescues. Monetary donations are always needed & greatly appreciated. It’s because of monies donated that we’re able to continue our work for the animals. We’re a recognized 501c3 organization so your donations are tax deductible.
All of our animals are in foster homes, but they can be seen on certain days at Pet Valu in the Kings Shopping Center at 300 South Ave. in Garwood. Check our websites for the dates that we're there at www.allstar.petfinder.com.
Our Adoption Process...
We do have an adoption fee which goes right back to the animals for food, medical treatment, etc. Yo do have to sign a contract. We also do have certain requirements when placing our animals, some are general & some can be based on the situation.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We mostly serve the areas around us, but have served out of the area.
