April is a 2 year old female dalmation/blue heeler mix that came to the shelter in March of 09 VERY pregnant. This little girl had 8 pups in her, and had every type of worm you could imagine. She gave birth four days after arriving and was with her pups until they were about 2 months old. Now April is looking for a new home. If you haven't met a blue heeler, now is the time to start reading up on the breed. They are very smart, but very high energy dogs. April will need daily long walks and lots of play time to help her stay calm. She seems to do well around other dogs, but she will have to have a dog meet before going to a new home with other dogs. She's been around cats in cages, and seems to just ignore them, but it's still unknown what she'd do with a free roaming cat. April was brought into the shelter because she was a stray, but the family who found her said that she bit their young child. What likely happened was that she was feeling so icky from being extremely pregnant and sick with worms that she just had a low tolerance at that time. Still, a new home without young kids is going to be best for April.
