Dozer, a very sweet and loveable 1-1/2 yr old pit bull (see attached photos) was rescued approximately two months ago from a terrible situation. Dozer was neglected by his former owner, was left outside 24/7 and did not get food and water on a regular basis. In addition, Dozer has epilepsy and was not given the necessary medication to control his seizures. Dozer has had several seizures through past neglect of not being given his daily medication and as a result of this, is now blind in one eye.
A week and a half ago, Dozer had a cluster of seizures and was rushed to the vets office. At the recommendation of the vet, he was shortly transferred to a hospital in Orange County so further tests could be completed. Dozer repeatedly had seizures so the O.C. vet had to put him into a medically induced coma to stop the continuing seizures and allow them to do the necessary tests. He had an MRI, spinal tap and several blood tests. Luckily the overall results were all okay and the doctor confirmed that he has epilepsy, which we were aware of, however as he continued having seizures it was important to assure there was nothing else of a serious issue going on. The O.C. vet changed his medication and he was released on Saturday. To date, we have incurred vet bills of approximately $5100 and will still incur bills as he he needs to go back to the vet for follow up tests. In addition, we are paying a foster to take care of him.
We desperately need HELP paying these medical bills, so we can continue to help Dozer. Even if you can only donate $5, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations should be made through ResQPet since they are a non profit organization and all donations would be tax deductible. Please see below on ways to donate if you can help us with Dozer's bills.
Thank you,
Amanda

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters the day they are to be euthanized. Our goal is to help provide animals with a second chance to a happy life and to help reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs. Once rescued, we place our dogs into loving foster homes while they await adoption. We do not keep dogs in kennels. Placing the dogs in foster homes is the first step to rehabilitation, as it allows us to thoroughly evaluate a dog's demeanor and needs enabling us to make the perfect match of dog and permanent owner. We attribute our high rate of successful placement to our foster program. At Ace of Hearts, we do not discriminate against any breed, including those in the bully breed family. Additionally, Ace of Hearts is dedicated to educating the public on how to be responsible pet owners and on the importance of spaying and neutering. We believe the real solution to pet overpopulation is through spaying and neutering pets.
