Personality: Duke is quiet, devoted to his humans, playful, and extremely eager to please. Unlike most schnauzers, he does not bark too much, although if he is scared or senses danger, he will let us know! He has been well-socialized around other dogs and people. He enjoys it when we have a house full of company, although he may be nervous when people arrive at the door until he is sure they are friends.
Habits: When we are home, he will lay down nearby and rest quietly. A short morning or afternoon walk seems to satisfy his exercise requirements, but he would love a 2-3 hour hike when time permits. He loves to chew and pressed rawhide sticks are a favorite treat.
Bio:
This calm, sweet dog will cherish every minute with you. Although he has a lot of energy, Duke enjoys quiet time as well as play time. He was in several homes as a little puppy and was most likely neglected. As a result, Duke loves attention and can be fearful of new people and circumstances. When family members are around, he prefers to be indoors with them instead of playing outdoors. Still, he is great around other dogs and enjoys meeting new friends. He would do well a household with or without other dogs. Duke has mellowed out quite a bit during the past few years and is a superb and loyal companion.
