Bugs foster mom rarely brings a dog home that she falls in love with right away. As a rule, she knows she has to train them and really get to know them first. Her foster mom also prefers male dogs and finds puppy antics trying. Doodle Bug is different. Despite the fact that she is only 9 months old, and a girl, Bug is such little doll that it is almost impossible not to be happy around her. Though playful and funny, she is an intuitive learner who catches on and responds so quickly that training her doesnt feel like training. Already for her age, she is docile, relaxed and attentive. Also, while most of her foster moms pits havent understood the concept of fetch, Bug will race out into the yard in a rainstorm to grab the ball and bring it back to the covered porch just to be able to run out there again. Doodle Bug is housetrained, crate trained, and knows sit and stay (mostly). Bug is new to foster. She hasnt been introduced to her pack yet, but there isnt an alpha bone in her body, and she has done very well with other dogs in the pound. Her foster mom will cat test her on request. A few words about her breed. Becoming the owner of a pit bull is not a decision to be taken lightly. While they are one of the best and most dutiful breeds out there, they are frequently misunderstood and taken advantage of for their strength and drive to please their owners. For this reason, owning a pit requires extra levels of responsibility and leadership to protect the dog and the reputation of the breed. Bugs foster parents, for instance, have worked hard to become strong and consistent leaders and to turn their foster dogs into model canine citizens. Becoming the owner of Bug and capitalizing on her potential to be the best dog ever seen in the world will take just as much consistency and responsibility, though less attitude. She does best with a consistent gentle approach, and does not require breed experience, though dog experience is preferred. Bug will be spayed and available in mid-May.
Doodle Bug's adoption fee is $195.00 and includes microchipping.
If you are applying for a bully breed(which Woody may be), please check your city\county\township\state ordinances before applying as we will be checking them also. Please do not call Vector Control to inquire about adoptions as they are seperate from Pound Buddies. Foster dogs are already altered, current on vaccines and have been heartworm tested if age appropriate. In order to meet a foster pet, you must have an approved application on file with us. We will then schedule an appointment that is convenient for both you and the Foster Parents. If you would like more info on this pet please e-mail doggiebarb@verizon.net and I will give you as much info as I can. All breed ID's, ages and size dogs will reach as adults are estimates and are not guarentees. We do accept out of state applications provided you have a vet reference, own your own home, and are willing to drive to Muskegon to meet your pet. We do not ship our pets. WE DO NOT ADOPT TO FAMILIES WITH UNALTERED PETS. We do require a vet check and if you do not have a past or present vet that we can speak with on how you cared for your pets, then we do require a home visit.
