PBR Scooter's story...
Scooter has been with me for a few years now. She has grown up and is about 4 years old now. She is still full of energy but has come so far ! She can be so silly and goofy. Scooter knows 'sit' 'down' 'out' 'come' , she is crate trained and takes treats very well and will 'wait' until I say 'ok' and sometimes I say 'give me a kiss first' and she will reach up with her nose to give me a kissie, THEN take her treat of dinner. She is crate trained and needs to be in a secure room or a crate when no one is home as she is a bit too curious. Why is she still in resuce you might ask if she is such a great dog. Scooter suffers from nothing more than big bullyitis. This is she is a large, strong , athletic pit bull possibly mix. She is taller than the average pit bull and weighs in around 70 pounds. She will need a person who knows bully breeds and is not intimidated by the breed or by her size. Scooter loves to excercise, Round Robin is a favorite game where we throw ball after ball, she loves to tug and chase after balls. Her newest toy is the JollyBall, oh my she gets so excited! She is a great rebounder with basketball , but beware! She will pop a ball if the Ref doesnt call 'OUT' when she gets the ball! She is really a fun dog. Scooter lives happily with my cats, she even had a ferret that followed her everywhere ! Scooter likes some dogs but she can be corrective when she feels she has had enough. So I would reccomend her as a only dog. She has been here awhile, this is true, but I still think she can be even 'more of a dog' in a home that can give her more time and snuggly human time, as my house is a busy place and I never can give her the 100% she deserves. Scooter is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, on heartworm preventative. Scooter needs a secured yard AND a fence as she can leap over chain links and even 6 foot fences without a problem. I have her on a trolley/pully system here for potty time when I am not out there with her. Scooter should never be left outside for long amounts of time unattended. She really needs to be an indoor pet. Scooter will have a 2-4 week trial period before we finalize the adoption so you can really get to know her! Dont let the media fool you, Pit Bulls are fun , loving family dogs. Scooter is all that and more

*please note, no pitbull or pitbull mix should ever be left unattended outside tied up or running the fence line. They need to be kept safe from a world that isnt always so understanding of this wonderful and very misunderstood breed .

His adoption fee is $195.00 which includes micorchipping.

Please do not call Vector Control to inquire about adoptions as they are seperate from Pound Buddies.
Foster dogs are already altered, current on vaccines and have been heartworm tested if age appropriate. In order to meet a foster pet, you must have an approved application on file with us. We will then schedule an appointment that is convenient for both you and the Foster Parents.
If you would like more info on this pet please e-mail
doggiebarb@verizon.net and I will give you as much info as I can. All breed ID's, ages and size dogs will reach as adults are estimates and are not
guarentees.

We do accept out of state applications provided you have a vet reference, own your own home, and are willing to drive to Muskegon to meet your pet. We do not ship our pets.

WE DO NOT ADOPT TO FAMILIES WITH UNALTERED PETS. We do require a vet check and if you do not have a past or present vet that we can speak with on how you cared for your pets, then we do require a home visit.

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a 501c non-profit organization. All of our members are volunteers, who share a common love of animals. In October 2003 our local animal shelter announced they would no longer handle adoptions of the homeless animals bought into the shelter. We worked with the county of Muskegon and eventually took over the adoption program for the shelter. Otherwise all animals taken into the shelter would of been euthanized if an owner did not show up to claim them. As part of the agreement with the county we also do the cleaning and feeding of the animals on weekends and holidays.
We also have foster families who take in homeless pets from the shelter to live with them until they can find their forever home.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We work from the main shelter at 1300 E. Keating, Muskegon, MI. We are open to the public for adoptions of shelter dogs on Wednesdays from 5:30pm -7:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am-1:30pm. We also have adopt-a-days for our dogs in foster care who live with families. Please check the website for additonal information. To schedule a meeting outside of an adopt-a-day for a foster pet, you must first have an approved application. We then set up an appointment for you.
Our Adoption Process...
In order to adopt you must first submit an application. Upon approval of the application we will set up an appointment to meet a foster dog or invite you to the shelter to adopt a shelter dog.
You may obtain an application by visting our website and clicking on the pet's picture page, or e-mailing rwladywolf@verizon.net for an application to be e-mailed to you.
The fee for a shelter dog is a $125.00 pre-paid deposit to your vet ( this deposit is towards the cost of altering the pet .) plus $20.00 to us for microchipping. The cost of adoption for a foster dog is $195.00 - $300.00 since they have already been altered and are up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped.
We require all family members and dogs to meet the dog before adoption. We track the dogs progress for the rest of it's life. We always take our dogs back if something happens and you can no longer keep your dog. This is why we want to make sure it is a perfect fit right from the beginning!

We do adopt out of state but you must own your home and have a vet reference. We do not ship our dogs. You must travel to Muskegon in order to meet them.

We do NOT adopt to homes with unaltered pets. No exceptions.
