K.C. is yet another Keeshond who is fortunate to have come into the care of a rescue organization. K.C. was surrendered to our rescue organization and immediately checked in with our veterinarian for a thorough examination, laboratory work and dental treatment. Unfortunately, our veterinarian reported that K.C. has a heart condition which will prevent anesthesia-based dental treatments and he is hospitalized while undergoing veterinary evaluation and treatment. Please keep K.C. in your positive thoughts and prayers. Upon completion of his veterinary evaluation, K.C. will move to one of our safe foster homes. All of our dogs are fostered in the homes of volunteers, who provide the dogs with food, shelter, grooming, attention, and other care needed for their well being.
K.C. was a cherished companion until his beloved owner went into the hospital for an extended period and then passed away in June 2009. K.C. longs for a loving home now that his owner will not be returning home from the hospital. Family members were unable to take K.C. to live with them so they surrendered K.C. to our 501(c)(3) all-volunteer rescue organization to ensure K.C.'s welfare. K.C. is a loving, friendly mature fellow--a typical Keeshond who loves to be petted and be around people. K.C. displays a happy personality and good disposition--he is compatible with dogs and cats in his home. K.C.'s coat was clipped a few months ago due to medical necessity and is growing out--we don't recommend clipping a Keeshond's coat.
Senior dogs present a unique challenge to the rescue community. Many older dogs are given up by their owners for a variety of reasons. Divorce, the death of an owner, a change in finances, or a change in residence are all reasons that older dogs may find themselves living out their golden years with a rescue organization. A mature dog has so much to offer! Often they fit very easily into a new home. They can be house trained, obedience trained, and familiar with the routines of family life. They require less entertainment than a younger dog, and can be happy just sitting by your side or taking a leisurely walk. And they are ever so grateful to regain what they have lost.
Won't you please consider adopting or fostering a senior dog!!?? Thank you for considering a Keeshond Rescue dog! If you believe in what we are achieving, please do contribute - a $50 donation will save one more from euthanasia - and provide a happy-ever-after.
