Adorable, Gentle, and Loving Senior Dog! (with 'special needs')

Hi there!  Meet “Jag”!  Jag was rescued from being euthanized at the East Valley Animal Shelter.  He was on his LAST day, before they were going to euthanize (kill) him.  And the ONLY reason they were going to euthanize him was because of how over-crowded the shelter was, and they were out of room.  Well, we couldn’t let that happen to him!  So we rescued him, and he is now being fostered in a private home, until his permanent “forever home” can be found.

Jag is a WONDERFUL dog.  He is so sweet and affectionate.  He is a perfect gentleman too, and will need no training.  He doesn’t bark, he doesn’t dig, he doesn’t chew anything up, he is calm and still in the car, he’s housebroken, and he walks well on a leash.  He also doesn’t climb on the furniture.  In addition to all of that, he gets along very well with other dogs - even really little dogs - and he would probably be fine with cats, too.  He’s just about as close to perfect as you can get!

Jag is an older fellow. We think that he is at least 10 years old. Jag is a special dog, and will have some physical obstacles. He needs an understanding family who will love him, inspite of this. But just because he has a few physical issues, doesn't mean that he shouldn't get a home, or that he shouldn't be loved. So here's what's going on: Jag can see, as of right now, but he is developing an eye condition called 'Pannus' (google 'Dog Pannus'), which will eventually cause him to go blind. We need to get him adopted soon, so that he can learn his new home, and so that he can learn his new family, BEFORE he loses his eyesight. Blind dogs do fine, and still have a lot of love to give. They don't get devastated like humans do. They adjust very well. But just because Jag will go blind down the road, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a loving home. He will still act like a dog.  Jag will still be able to walk around your house, and we will still be able to go for walks in the neighborhood, on a leash (which he loves to do!).

Jag is very, very, very sweet, and wags his tail when you give him your attention.  He’s absolutely adorable.  Jag loves affection, and loves to be pet.  This dog is perfect for the “laid back” family, and for someone who wants a sweet dog that is mellow.  Also, Jag loves his walks!  He lights up when you pull out the leash!  And he's so well-behaved on his walks....you can literally hold the leash with your pinky finger.  But Jag doesn't need a whole lot of exercise though.  If you could take him for a little stroll around the neighborhood at least once (or twice) a day, for about 15 minutes per walk (in addition to his 'bathroom' breaks), he would really be happy and would enjoy that!  He may walk a little slow though, but he definitely loves to go out for a stroll!

Please e-mail us at HeroesK9Rescue@aol.com if you're interested in Jag. There is a $95 adoption fee, and when you e-mail us, we will ask you to fill out a short adoption application. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a rescued dog!

About Our Rescue Group...
Hi! I'm Lacey Conner, the "villain" from Vh1's "Rock of Love" and "Charm School". However, I am no villain to the animals! I started my organization (previously called "New Dawn Pet Rescue") a year-and-a-half ago. I am currently working on obtaining my 501c3 status. I rescue dogs (and, occassionally, cats) that are at the local city and county shelter and who are dangerously close to being euthanized at the shelter. Once I remove these animals from the shelter, they come home with me, which is where I foster them. If they are sick or injured (which is often the case), I get them the medical attention they need to heal. (Several dogs that I've pulled from the shelter even needed surgery.) Once the dog is feeling good, I adopt him/her into a loving "forever" home. Then I go back to the animal shelter and start the process all over again. Since I foster in my own home, I can only foster 4 or 5 animals at any given time. But to date, I've rescued and successfully rehomed over 50 animals, most of which otherwise would have been euthanized at the animal shelter.

Our Adoption Process...
If someone is interested in adopting one of our rescued dogs, first we will send the person a brief adoption application via e-mail. Once we receive the completed adoption application back from that person, and if it looks like a good match, then we would bring the dog to that person's house. That way, we can simultaneously do a home check, and have the person and the dog meet each other. If all goes well, then the adoption is complete upon the person signing a contract with us. The contract states that we have the right to check on the well-being of the dog for the rest of that dog's life, and it also states that the person may never give away or sell the dog (if they no longer wish to own the dog, they MUST give the dog back to us.) Our adoption fees range from $150 to $300. (The majority of these fees help pay for vet bills for all the rescued dogs...we specialize in rescuing sick and injured animals from the pound.)
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
