Bangles's story...
Hi, I’m Bangles! I’m about 6.5 months old and a short, chunky 35 pounds (12/1/09). I had a bit of a rough start – my foster Mom thinks I should mention this. I really could care less, but she says I walk funny and that my left eye is squished in - and that people should know this from the start! I tend to hop a lot rather than walk, and when I walk, I stretch my back legs out behind me. But, I get around and enjoy short walks and playing in the yard! I love to chase balls – even though I usually over shoot them and have to turn around to get them! (I would have trouble with a house with a lot of steps, but I can get up a few to get up on the deck out here.)

My foster Mom has a lot of nicknames for me – she says it has something to do with me having a lot of personality! One nickname is “shoe-socker” – ‘cause I will grab, shake with glee, take off to a special spot and start chewing on any sock/shoe you leave within my reach. Another nickname is “mudpie” – I LOVE playing in mud puddles - can you tell by some of my pictures?!?!! I love digging in them, splashing in them and trying to make them bigger any time it rains – then of course come in the house all covered in mud! It is just SUCH a BLAST! You should watch me splashing around in one – I am just all over it! (Side note: I should be toweled off before I come in but then YOU won’t get any classic “mud-pie” photos!)

My foster Mom also calls me “pumpkin-head” from time to time – I don’t really get this one! But it has something to do with me not being the brightest bulb in the pack – whatever – I am HAPPY and I know it!

I like to bark to tell people about everything and anything, I don’t bark just to bark – I have reasons to bark – someone coming down the hall/into the house, playtime, and any odd noise/motion that catches my attention. I just like to tell my foster Mom about everything!

I am crate-trained and do well during the work day. I’m quiet through the night – unless there is some serious commotion. Then of course, I gotta make sure foster Mom knows I’m still paying attention! I’m working on basic obedience – but I really just want to jump up and grab the treats! I’m trying to get this house-breaking thing – and do well 99% of the time. But every once in a while, I’ll forget and pee in the house. (I’m not able to go out the doggie door like the other pups, and sometimes my foster Mom
doesn’t realize how long I’ve been inside. Some more “timed” trips outside will help keep the house clean!)

I do well with the resident adult dogs – I’m submissive with them. With other puppies, I can be a little bossy. I’d do best with an older dog that didn’t try to play all out with me for great amounts of time. I like to play, but I tucker out sooner than most pups my age due to my legs and have trouble handling the real serious rough-and-tumble play. I’d be fine as an only dog, too – ‘cause I like chewing on nylabones and shaking and playing with toys by myself, plus playing a bit of fetch.

I am leash trained and love to go out and about on walks – I can only do about 1 - 1.5 miles– then I need a buggy for longer trips!

I’d do best in an adult only home since my physical condition is really a mystery – even though we went to a vet to get my legs checked out. Since then I’ve been improving with some good exercise and food, and we haven’t been back to the vet.

I've been spayed, dewormed, am up to date with vaccinations, and am on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

About Our Rescue Group...
We are an all volunteer dog rescue organization started in 2002. Our mission is to provide safe refuge for stray, abused, neglected and owner-surrendered dogs. In addition, our organization works to rehabilitate dogs (medically and/or behaviorally) to aid in finding them carefully screened permanent, safe and loving homes where they will live as companion animals. We also educate the community and promote involvement with regard to animal welfare issues.
