Duncan was taken in to our rescue group in 12/2005.  He was adopted from our group in 1/2006 when he was a small pup.  The family has since decided that they need to find him a new home.  Duncan currently lives with another dog and 2 cats and does fine with all of them.

Hello!  My name is Duncan.  I am a 4 ½ year old terrier mix.  I am calm, well trained and house broken. I definitely know what 'outside' means and like to play in my fenced in yard.  I would make a wonderful companion dog for an older family or person.   My current family has since decided that they need to find me a new home because I do not play well with small children.  I prefer to play with teenagers who know how to play nice with an animal.

I know several basic commands such as sit, lay, stay (to a point), roll over, and outside.  Outside is the word my parents taught me to recognize if I need to go potty.  If they aren’t paying any attention, I’ll go get them.   I love to go on walks outside and am fairly well leash trained. I walked on a 6'ft leash in our subdivision.  I also like to travel.  My grandparents are 6 hours away and I am able to make the trip (provided we have pit-stops).  I am crate trained even though my parents haven’t kept me in a crate in the past year.  This is because they let me sleep on a blanket in the kitchen.   I also have two brothers (a Yorkie and a house cat) and a sister (another house cat).  I like to play with my younger brother (Yorkie), but I usually ignore my other siblings.

When it comes to bath time, I prefer not to do it, but I let my parent’s bathe me.  I would prefer not to be brushed either, but I let them.  However, I will not let my parents clip my toenails.  They take me to a groomer to have them done professionally.

I look forward coming home to you!

--Duncan

About Our Rescue Group...
Homeward Bound is a non profit, no-kill organization based in Gilmer County, Georgia which began in August 2000. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted companion animals, while actively seeking permanent homes through our adoption programs. We take in dogs and cats that are found as strays, owner surrenders and abandoned. We also take animals out of high kill shelters to prevent them from being euthanized. We have rescued and adopted out about 4,000 animals.
